Gerhard Thielcke Nature Conservation Prize

The Gerhard Thielcke Nature Conservation Prize of BUND Baden-Württemberg was created in 2006 on the 75th birthday of BUND honorary chairman and co-founder Gerhard Thielcke .

The award criteria formulated by Thielcke himself provide that the prize is awarded to people or groups for special achievements in nature conservation in Baden-Württemberg. The prize is endowed with 1000 euros and is awarded every year at the Nature Conservation Days in Radolfzell . The BUND state board decides on the award winner.

The following people have been honored so far:

  • 2010 Anneliese Schmeh, agricultural master and organic farmer from Überlingen
  • 2011 Kai Frobel , initiator of the Green Belt
  • 2012 Hans-Helmut Klepser, water ecologist at the Tübingen regional council
  • 2013 Reiner Ehret, Chairman of the Baden-Württemberg State Nature Conservation Association
  • 2014 Gerhard Röhner, nature conservation officer of the BUND regional association Rhein-Neckar-Odenwald
  • 2015 Wolfgang Schlund, Thomas Waldenspuhl and Thomas Fritz, significant commitment to the Black Forest National Park
  • 2017 Ralf Worm, Managing Director of the Ostalb Landscape Conservation Association
  • 2018 Frank Baum, commitment to nature and the environment on the southern Upper Rhine
  • 2020 Werner Eckert, particularly qualified environmental journalist
  • 2020 Fridays for Future group Konstanz, exemplary climate protection activities, thereby u. a. first declaration of a climate emergency
