Hans Mattern

Hans Mattern (born November 9, 1932 in Crailsheim ) is a German biologist and conservationist in Baden-Württemberg .

Hans Mattern studied biology , geography and chemistry at the universities of Tübingen and Innsbruck from 1952 to 1960 . He received his doctorate in Tübingen with a thesis entitled Algological-hydrological studies of stagnant waters in the Keuper area near Crailsheim . From 1960 to 1962 he received a grant from the German Research Foundation in the Lake Constance project. In 1962 he was employed at what would later become the district office for nature conservation in Stuttgart, of which he was head from 1973 to 1997.

In 1997 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his commitment . He is an honorary member of the Swabian Alb Association , the Swabian Heimatbund and the Society for Natural History in Württemberg .

Hans Mattern has written numerous writings on local and natural history topics as well as on questions of nature conservation.
