The FFH area Albvorland Nürtingen-Kirchheim is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-7322-311) in the German state of Baden-Württemberg that was designated in 2015 by the Stuttgart regional council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) . From 2005 to 2015 there were two areas, namely Albvorland near Nürtingen and Hohes Reisach and Rauber . The LUBW merged the two areas in 2015, whereby the protected areas have practically not changed. With the ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the definition of areas of community importance of October 30, 2018, the protected area was established.

The 1876.1 hectare protected area belongs to the natural areas 101 - Middle Alb foreland , 104 - Schönbuch and Glemswald and 106 - Filder within the natural spatial main unit 10 - Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land . It consists of several sub-areas and extends over the markings of twelve cities and municipalities in the districts of Esslingen and Göppingen:

Description and purpose of protection

The protected area essentially comprises the large contiguous forest areas between Nürtingen and Kirchheim / Teck. These are the wooded ridges to the left and right of the Tiefenbach valley , structured by blades, as well as the valley of the Trinkbach with wet meadows, still waters and meadows rich in structures and species.

Contiguous protected areas

Twelve landscape protection areas completely or partially overlap with the FFH area. Almost the entire FFH area is located in the bird sanctuary No. 7323-441 foreland of the central Swabian Alb . The following nature reserves are in the FFH area:
