The Wiestal mit Rauber is a nature reserve (NSG number 1.185) designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of August 13, 1992 in the area of ​​the city of Kirchheim unter Teck (district Jesingen ) and the communities of Ohmden and Holzmaden in the Baden-Württemberg district of Esslingen .

location

The 136.5 hectare nature reserve is located between Jesingen and Ohmden, east of Kirchheim unter Teck. The district road K 1265 runs right through the area. It is located in the natural area 101 - Middle Alb foreland within the natural spatial main unit 10 - Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land .

Protection purpose

The protection purpose is the preservation and restoration of the near-natural meadow meadows of the Trink- and Seebach valley with their diverse, ecologically valuable biotope types, the preservation and safeguarding of the ecologically valuable slopes of the Rauber with their diverse, ecologically valuable biotope types and the safeguarding of the networked living conditions for those in the protected area in abundant animal and plant communities. The area is an almost unique habitat for the Esslingen district, which is also of national importance.

The reserve is located in the Black Jura (Lias) area. The western Rauberhang is characterized by the 15 meter thick Lias Beta (Turneritone).
