Tobeltal with Mittagsfels and Wielandstein is a nature reserve (NSG number 1.265) designated by ordinance of the Stuttgart regional council of January 3, 2005 in the area of the municipality of Lenningen in the Baden-Württemberg district of Esslingen .
location
The 151.4 hectare nature reserve is a side valley of the Lenninger Lautertal and lies east of Oberlenningen. It comprises the valley area of the Tobelbach from the source to the outskirts of Oberlenningen, the flat and steep valley slopes as well as the rocks and parts of the adjoining Alb plateau. It is located in the natural area 094 - Middle Kuppenalb within the natural spatial main unit 09 - Swabian Alb .
Protection purpose
The protection purpose is the preservation and safeguarding of a deep indented valley typical of the edge heights of the Middle Kuppenalb, of extremely high ecological diversity and natural historical value. Associated with this is the preservation of the striking rock formations, the natural and near-natural forests and forest communities, the near-natural stream with its bank vegetation and the open meadows, orchards and fields including the hedges and bushes in the valley area and on the plateaus as valuable habitats for many rare animals and animals Plant species. In addition, the natural development of the vegetation of the rock formations and the forests should be secured for scientific reasons and the charming, unique and typical landscape should be preserved in its entirety.
Another protection purpose is the preservation of the habitats occurring in the area of the gappy calcareous pioneer lawns, the brisket-fescue-calcareous lawns, the lean flatland hay meadows, the limestone tufa springs, the rocks and crevice vegetation, the caves that are not open to tourists, the woodruff beech forest, the orchid forest Beech forest, the bedstraw-oak-hornbeam forest and the ravine and hillside mixed forests and the wild animals and plants occurring in the area according to Annex II of the Habitats Directive as well as the conservation of the species occurring in the area according to Annex I of the Bird Protection Directive such as peregrine falcon, black woodpecker and Red backs.
