The Eichhalde is a nature reserve on the mark of the municipality of Bissingen an der Teck in the Esslingen district .
description
The Eichhalde is a sheep pasture in the lower part of the slope that climbs from the Linsenbach to the Breitenstein . It forms one of the most valuable heaths in the entire area of the Swabian Alb , because one of the largest occurrences in all of Central Europe of the rare bumblebee ragwort ( Ophrys holoserica ) with different variations can be found there. In addition, the following largely protected species live here: bee ragwort ( Ophrys apifera ), fly ragwort ( Ophrys insectifera ), pale orchid ( Orchis pallens ), two-leaved forest hyacinth ( Platanthera bifolia ), red forest bird ( Cephalanthera rubra ), white Waldvögelein ( Cephalanthera damasonium ), German ring gentian ( Gentianella germanica ), Common Frans gentian ( Gentianopsis ciliata ), silver thistle ( Carlina acaulis ), gold thistle ( Carlina vulgaris ), Gemeines Fettkraut ( Piguicula vulgaris ) and sump heart Journal ( Parnassia palustris ).
The Stuttgart Regional Council placed the Eichhalde under nature protection on September 22, 1969 (Official Gazette of October 21, 1969, p. 226) (Protected Area No. 1024). The area has a size of 85.0 ha. It belongs to the natural areas of the Middle Alb foreland and the Middle Kuppenalb .
