The FFH area Schönbuch is located in the middle of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . It was designated in 2005 by the Tübingen regional council.

location

The approximately 11250 hectare (hectare) large protected area Schönbuch lies in the natural areas Schönbuch and Glemswald and Obere Gäue . The 19 sub-areas are located in the municipalities of Altdorf , Ehningen , Gärtringen , Herrenberg , Hildrizhausen , Holzgerlingen , Nufringen , Waldenbuch , Weil im Schönbuch in the Boeblingen district, in Aichtal , Altenriet , Neckartailfingen , Neckartenzlingen and Schlaitdorf in the Esslingen district, in Walddorfhäslach in the Reutlingen district and in Ammerbuch , Dettenhausen , Kusterdingen and Tübingen in the Tübingen district.

The nature of the landscape of the protected area is essentially shaped by the largely forested Schönbuch massif, which is divided into numerous valley cuts .
