Spitzberg-Ödenburg is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.174) near Tübingen in Baden-Württemberg . With an ordinance of October 22, 1990, the Tübingen Regional Council placed the area under nature protection.
history
The area lies on a southern slope in the area of the Spitzberg and the Ödenburg and drops steeply towards the Neckar. It has been a wine-growing area since the Middle Ages. Vineyard walls and terraces still shape the landscape today and give it an important cultural and historical value. Over time, this landscape was more and more left to itself. Natural succession resulted in interesting plant communities, semi-arid lawns, various stages of shrubbery and black locust forests. Evidence of the former viticulture are overgrown wine and cultural refugees, such as Iris germanica , Allium sativa and Ribes uva-crispa .
location
The nature reserve is located on the most south-westerly foothills of the Spitzberg ridge, which runs from west to east, around 1.5 kilometers east of Hirschau . It forms a semicircular bay to the west of the Ödenburg promontory.
The nature reserve is located in the natural area 104- Schönbuch and Glemswald within the natural spatial main unit 10- Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land . It is enclosed by the approximately 464 hectare protected landscape area No. 4.16.006 Spitzberg and is also part of the 3,568 hectare FFH area No. 7419341 Spitzberg, Pfaffenberg, Kochhartgraben and Neckar . It is also on the edge of the 15,362 hectare bird sanctuary No. 7420441 Schönbuch .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of a south-facing, culturally and historically significant, scientifically interesting steep slope with fallow land, semi-arid grassland, bush formations, old vineyard walls and terraces and forest edges, as well as the preservation of the extensive use of orchards. These are habitats for numerous rare and endangered, especially warm and dry-loving plants and animal species.
