Bühler Tal und Unterer Bürg is a nature reserve with the number 4.218 and a supplementary landscape protection area with the number 4.16.017 that was designated by the Tübingen regional council of March 10, 1993 .
location
The area lies in the natural area Schönbuch and Glemswald and is to the east of the Rottenburg district of Kiebingen and south of the Tübingen district of Bühl . It is part of the FFH area No. 7519-342 Rammert and the bird sanctuary No. 7519-401 Mittlerer Rammert . The Bühler Valley opens from south to north from the Rammert to the Neckar . The centerpiece of the nature reserve is the Bühlertalbach , a Niederungsbach with pronounced natural meander formation . An ash and alder gallery forest with high perennials on the banks, wet meadows and remains of alluvial forest line the stream and its tributaries.
Protection purpose
The purpose of protection is the preservation of the traditional, open cultural landscape with mown, unfertilized, wet to dry meadows, orchards with old tall trees, the freely meandering stream with its natural gallery forest and mixed deciduous forest, which thanks to its diversity and size is an important refuge for rare plants and animals represents.
Flora and fauna
The naturally meandering Bühlertalbach provides a habitat for the endangered lamprey . The yellow-bellied toad and globe flower are native to the wet meadows of the protected area .
Flood retention basin
Since July 2018, a dam about 350 meters long and up to seven meters high has been built in the nature reserve. The aim of the dam construction is to create the Wuhrwiesen flood retention basin . The end of the construction project is planned for December 2019. The flood retention basin is intended to prevent a flood of the century that occurred in Bühl in June 2003. It was plan noted that the construction of the retention basin predominates to protect the population of Buhl interest for the Protection of Nature. The higher nature conservation authority has granted an exemption in accordance with Section 67 (1) of the Federal Nature Conservation Act . An environmental impact assessment has shown that the planned project will cause considerable damage to parts of the alluvial forest along the Bühlertalbach . There will be compensatory measures, an expansion of the area is not planned.
