The area Kochhart ditch and Ammertalhänge is with Regulation of 21 December 1995 by the Regional Council Tübingen been instructed Nature Reserve , an established with Regulation of 5 February 2010 by the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg European bird sanctuary in the Baden-Württemberg district of Tübingen in Germany .

location

The nature reserve has an area of ​​103 hectares and is located between Hailfingen and Poltringen in Kochhartgraben and Ammertal . It consists of eight sub-areas. The area naturally belongs to the Neckar and Tauber-Gäuplatten and lies in the geological unit of the Upper Muschelkalk .

The bird sanctuary “Kochhartgraben und Ammer Valley slopes”, which is around 54 hectares in size, lies entirely in the nature reserve of the same name. Its two sub-areas are east and west of Reusten , a district of the municipality of Ammerbuch , and are 50.42 ha (= 94.11%) in Ammerbuch and 3.15 ha (= 5.89%) in Rottenburg .

The area with dry and semi- arid grasslands , abandoned stone quarries and orchards forms a characteristic section of the limestone landscape in the Obere Gäue natural area and has regular breeding occurrences of peregrine falcons .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose of the nature reserve is "the preservation of the diverse cultural landscape of the Kochhartgraben and the Ammertal slopes in their special character and beauty [...]" as well as "the preservation of a richly structured ecosystem as a basis for a species-rich flora and fauna. [...] "

The area-related conservation objectives for the bird sanctuary are described differently depending on the species :

Breeding birds

Breeding bird species that are listed in Appendix I of the Birds Directive and for which special measures are to be applied across Europe. A total of 39 species fall into this category in Baden-Württemberg and three species in the "Kochhartgraben und Ammertal slopes" protected area.

Red- backed shrike ( Lanius collurio )

Preservation of extensively managed orchards, grassland and heathland areas, of low and medium hedges from native species, in particular thorn or prickly wooded trees, preservation of litter meadows and open bog edges, preservation of individual trees and bushes in the open landscape, of field lines, grass paths, Ruderal and perennial corridors and fallow land, field and meadow margins, secondary habitats such as abandoned mining sites with the aforementioned habitats and maintenance of the food supply, especially with larger insects.

Red kite ( Milvus milvus )

Preservation of diversely structured cultural landscapes with sparse forests, of field trees, large individual trees and rows of trees in the open landscape, of grassland, of old wood islands and old, large-crowned trees with free approach, preservation of trees with clumps, habitats without sources of danger such as non-bird-safe overhead lines and Wind turbines and the maintenance of undisturbed or at least low-disturbance breeding sites during the breeding season from March 1st to August 31st.

Peregrine falcon ( Falco peregrinus )

Preservation of the open rock walls and quarries with caves, niches and ledges, preservation of habitats without sources of danger such as non-bird-safe overhead lines and unsecured chimneys as well as preservation of undisturbed or at least undisturbed breeding sites during reproduction in the period from February 15 to July 30.

Flora and fauna

Notable plant species in the area are among Narrow-Lein , Veronica spicata , Lead Gray dandelion , Formerly prize , Early Sedge , Golden Aster , Fine leaved chickweed , Pasque , winged Orchid , German Ziest and Yellow Teeth consolation .

The area is an important habitat for numerous bird species, including red-backed shrimp , whinchat and bunting . The peregrine falcon also breeds here. In addition, numerous species of insects are represented, including the common sickle insect and the blue-winged wasteland insect, as well as the dwarf blue , the silver-green blue and the sky-blue blue .
