The Filsenberg ( 805.4 m above sea level ) is a mountain in the Swabian Alb south of Öschingen , a district of Mössingen in Baden-Württemberg .
The poor meadow on the unforested Filsenberg plateau has been under nature protection since 1983 because of the rare plants growing there ( orchids , cat paws , Turkish lilies , gentians, etc.). The 35.8 hectare Filsenberg nature reserve is assigned to the Middle Kuppenalb natural area . Lean lawns, bristle grass lawns and fringing communities shape the landscape.
The protective purpose is to preserve the high meadows with their diversity of animal and plant species while largely avoiding fertilizer and nutrient input.
