The Everlasting ( Antennaria ) are a plant kind from the family of the daisy family (Asteraceae). They have areas in the temperate, arctic and alpine regions of North America , South America and Eurasia . Some species are used as ornamental plants in rock gardens . There are species that are used to produce dried flowers . The name Antennaria refers to the pappus bristles of the male flowers, which resemble the antennae of insects.
description
Antennaria species are perennial herbaceous plants or subshrubs . Some species form runners above ground , others rhizomes . The alternate leaves are entire and can be stalked or sessile. The leaves are more or less glabrous to hairy on top, but always hairy on the underside.
Single or up to twelve in racemose , trugdoldigen or panicle inflorescences sit unisexual cup-shaped partial inflorescences . The species can be single- sexed ( monoecious ) or dioecious ( dioecious ). The flower heads have a diameter of 2 to 8 millimeters and usually contain 20 to 100 flowers. The flowers are always unisexual. They form achenes with pappus . Apomictic reproduction plays an important role in cat paws . As a result, views on the number of species differ greatly.
