Trichter-Ehehalde is a nature reserve designated by the ordinance of February 9, 1938 (NSG number 4.010) in the west of the municipality of Rottenburg am Neckar in Baden-Württemberg , Germany .

location

The approximately 2.7 hectare (ha) large nature reserve Trichter-Ehehalde belongs to the natural area Obere Gäue . The two troughs are located on former shell limestone exposed to the west - the steep slopes of the Weggentalbach - a tributary to the Neckar , which now mostly has little water due to karstification . The area is located at an altitude of 400  m above sea level. NN . There is a tourist development via a parking lot west of Rottenburg, via which the pilgrimage church to the Sorrowful Mother of God can also be reached. Biking and hiking trails are available both in the valley and on the slope edge.

Protection purpose

The protection purpose was not formulated in the protection ordinance. As a result, in the former wine-growing area, increasing bush cover and the associated succession led to a decline in biodiversity. Since 2018, extensive maintenance measures have been used to suppress the encroachment.

Flora Fauna

Dogwood , hazelnut, wild rose, creeping tree and wild cherries can be found as well as bee ragwort , heather carnation and gold aster . The former occurrences of cross gentian , real moon rue , and spotted orchid are now extinct due to the encroachment. Both the common sickle insect and numerous butterflies can be observed.

geology

The shape of the funnel in the Upper Muschelkalk resembles an amphitheater, with the valley floor having a diameter of around 120 meters and the slope edge with the mountain spur up to 54 m higher having a diameter of 350 m. On the mountain spur there are caked gravel of the Neckar from an Ice Age phase with limestone, which otherwise also occurs on the Swabian Alb. The area is listed as a geotope under the ID: 10068 .
