Altwiesen is a nature reserve designated by the ordinance of January 22, 1997 (NSG number 4.280) in the east of the municipality of Bodelshausen in Baden-Württemberg , Germany . In the west it borders on federal highway 27 .

location

The approximately 23 hectare nature reserve Altwiesen belongs to the nature area 101 Middle Alb foreland . The geological subsoil is formed from the lower layers of the Opalinus Clay in the Brown Jura , whereby the occurrence of pseudogley can also lead to waterlogging in places . The area is largely flat to flat inclined and is located at an altitude of 500  m above sea level. NN . In the core zone there are two ditches crisscrossed by wet meadows that are subject to extensive use. Both brook thistle meadows and occurrences of the endangered globeflowers can be found there. For grasshopper species such as the great golden insect , a central location with a 0.3 hectare uncultivated depression with sedges, tall herbaceous vegetation and forest ledges offers a suitable retreat. Not far from the source area of ​​the Wiesentalbach, at the end of the 1970s, a pond was built, which has since been overgrown with cattails and rushes and which has been accepted by dragonflies and amphibian species such as the tree frog .

Flora Fauna

The characteristic representatives of the wet meadows also include marsh marigold, marsh yarrow , cuckoo carnation and blue pipegrass . The edges of the ditch are lined with tall perennials such as devil's bite , shaggy willowherb , meadowsweet and loosestrife . Faunistic samples have shown that there are 27 species of bedbugs and 10 species of dragonflies, including the glossy rush damsel , worthy of protection in the investigated area . Butterflies such as the small fire butterfly can also be found.

Protection purpose

The purpose of protection consists in the conservation of the fresh, wet and wet meadow communities, the bank vegetation of ditches, the silting zone of the pond. Added to this are the establishment of buffer zones and the preservation of habitats for a variety of rare animal and plant species.
