location

The nature reserve is located in the Middle Alb foreland natural area . It is located south of Mössingen on the lower slopes of the Farrenberg and is part of the FFH area No. 7520-311 Alb foreland near Mössingen and Reutlingen and the bird sanctuary No. 7820-441 Südwestalb and Upper Danube Valley .

Protection purpose

The purpose of protection is the long-term preservation of the cultural landscape with its diverse fauna and flora . Particularly worthy of protection are the orchards, the poor grasslands, the alder-ash forests on flowing waters, the spring swamps and wet herbaceous vegetation.

Flora and fauna

The rough lawns are home to endangered orchid species such as orchid and bee orchid . The orchards are the habitat for collar snapper and reversible neck . The endangered blue-black kingfisher flies at the edge of the forest .
