The Evangelical Lutheran St. Michaelis Church is a church in Bissendorf near Hanover .

history

Around the year 950 the first parish was founded in Bissendorf (then Wongerdun). The secular patron saint was the Duke of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. The 28 meter high tower of the church, like today's church, was built mainly from lawn iron stone and dates from the 12th century. In 1680 the tower was re-established to increase its stability. The current church dates from 1768 and was built in the style of a hall church. The interior, designed in the late baroque style, was removed in 1966 and given a modern look. Since then, the altar wall has been decorated with a blessing figure of Christ by Peter Greve . The bells in the church tower were renewed in 1962, the smallest of the five bells weighs 105 kilograms and dates from 1540. The fifth organ in the church has been in operation since 1600, it comes from the Hillebrand company .
