Philippe Falardeau
Philippe Falardeau (born February 1, 1968 in Hull, now Gatineau ) is a Canadian film director and screenwriter .
Life
Philippe Falardeau, who is not related to the Canadian director Pierre Falardeau , studied Canadian politics and international relations in Ottawa .
The first documentaries were made in 1992 and 1993 for the young talent program La Course destination monde from Radio Canada , where he made 20 short films and won the IDRC Award. His first feature film La Moitié gauche du frigo was released in 2000.
Also in 2010 he was a member of the jury of the children's and youth film section " Glass Bear " at the Berlin Film Festival Berlinale .

- 2007: Prix Jutra , Best Director (Meilleure réalisation), for Congorama
- Art Cinema Award of the Confédération Internationale des Cinémas d'Art et d'Essai (CICAE, International Association of Art Cinemas), presented to Monsieur Lazhar at the Hamburg Film Festival
- 2009: Transparent Bear (Children's and Youth Film Section of the Berlinale ) in the Generation Kplus category for the best feature film, for I swear it wasn't me!
- 2009: Don Quixote Prize at the Tromsø Internasjonale Film Festival , for I swear it wasn't me!
- 2012: Monsieur Lazhar applies for an Oscar in the category “Best Foreign Language Film” and is initially shortlisted by the Academy; on January 24, 2012, it announced that the film was one of the five nominees.
