The Kirschenfeld is a landscape protection area in the area of ​​the municipality of Nehren and the city of Mössingen that was designated by ordinance on July 20, 1995 by the Tübingen District Office .

Location and description

The protected area is located southeast of Nehren, between the Tübingen-Sigmaringen railway line and the edge of the forest.

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the “preservation of the extensive orchard, which is structured by numerous hedges and field trees. The open meadow and wet meadow landscape with free-standing hedges and strips of field trees is also to be preserved. Another protection purpose is to keep the landscape open and to preserve the character of the landscape ”.

Landscape character

It is an extensive orchard on poor, lowland hay meadows on the northeast-exposed slopes of the Firstberg and the Schlossberg. Several streams, accompanied by bushes, run through the area.

Natural monument in the LSG

In the east, the FFH area connects to the Albvorland near Mössingen and Reutlingen . Four oaks in the area are designated as natural monuments.
