The Damtschach parish church is located in Damtschach in the municipality of Wernberg in the Villach-Land district in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to the Resurrection of Christ belongs to the deanery Rosegg / Rožek in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt .

history

Around 150 people live in Damtschach between Ossiacher See and Wörther See . Until 2003 the services were held in the Damtschach castle chapel . In 1995 the architect Gernot Kulterer was commissioned to conduct an expert opinion. The construction of the new church began in 2001 and was consecrated on May 4, 2003 by the diocesan bishop Egon Kapellari .

architecture

The main entrance of the church with a covered forecourt is at the southwest corner, the altar area with tabernacle is diagonally opposite. The interior of the church is formed by three smooth, light-weight concrete walls in white and a wooden house , so to speak, with ancillary rooms and a stepped gallery above , above which a sweeping roof canopy hovers on 20 wooden pillars. The entrance portal is glazed gray, followed by a vestibule, the church interior is rectangular, with 12 wooden pillars divided into three areas, above all the wooden flat ceiling made of white glazed spruce wood panels.

Furnishing

Two pew blocks are arranged in the central area of the church. Next to the altar pedestal with altar, ambo and tabernacle, a space zone with a baptismal font was placed. A free-standing staircase on the south wall leads to the transverse and tribune-like organ gallery. One behind the other, the covered forecourt is followed by the entrance with the zone of the ancillary rooms, then the church room of the parish and finally the liturgical places with the baptismal area.

The artist Karl Vouk designed the interior of the church in the theme of the Emmaus disciples with the risen Christ. In a frieze made of untreated steel, Vouk cut simple signs with Christian symbolism and shows the body of Christ, the shared bread, with a segmented disk above the frieze.
