The first documentary mention of Nehrens fluctuates between information from the year 1086, 1092 (both as Nehren and Hauchlingen ) and mentioned in a document in 1150. The settlement and district were created in their current form in the 15th and 16th centuries. Century, when the neighboring towns of Nehren and Hauchlingen were merged; both had been “churchly united” a few years earlier.

Since 1447 Nehren belonged to Württemberg and was subordinate to the office of Tübingen.

In the 18th century, row graves were uncovered “bei der Kappel”. To the northeast, above the Tübingen – Hechingen railway line, an area from the Hallstatt period (around 8th to 5th centuries BC) with around 30 burial mounds forms one of the largest burial grounds in the Tübingen district.

Nehren used to have a medieval castle, Nehren Castle .

Due to its location near the Swiss road (today Bundesstrasse 27 ) leading through the Steinlachtal valley, Nehren suffered considerably from the passage of troops from changing masters during times of war. During the Thirty Years' War the soldiers of Count von Fürstenberg plundered the entire Steinlachtal, in 1634 after the battle of Nördlingen it was the imperial ones. After the war, 72 destroyed houses and barns were counted in Nehren.

When the new administrative structure was implemented in the Kingdom of Württemberg , which was founded in 1806, Nehren's assignment to the Upper Office of Tübingen was confirmed.

A village chronicle, which is considered to be an important document of the Late Enlightenment, gives vivid insights into the history of the place and its families. It was written in 1838 by Pastor Friedrich August Köhler (1768–1844), who worked here as his father's vicar for almost ten years.

Through the district reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg , Nehren came to the Tübingen district in 1938. In 1945 the place became part of the French occupation zone and thus came to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Hohenzollern , which was incorporated into the state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.

Water supply

The drinking water supply for the community is handled by the Steinlach water supply association. 60 percent of the drinking water comes from our own water from the Tübingen-Kilchberg waterworks and 40 percent from the Lake Constance water supply . The Steinlach water supply association was founded in 1919 by the municipalities of Dußlingen , Mössingen , Nehren and Ofterdingen , which are still members of the association today. The first water intake was created as a gallery fountain on Mössingen and supplied all municipalities until 1947.

Sanitation

The waste water is disposed of in cooperation with the Steinlach-Wiesaz waste water association. In addition to Nehren, the association includes the communities of Dußlingen , Gomaringen , Sonnenbühl , Ofterdingen and the cities of Mössingen and Reutlingen . The joint sewage treatment plant is in the Dußlingen district.

In recent years, after heavy rainfall, water has repeatedly entered the cellars of the residents on Wertstrasse. The cause, the excess capacity of the sewer there, is to be remedied by its renovation.

Waste disposal

The waste disposal is carried out by the waste management company of the Tübingen district.
