In the district of Tübingen , there are 21 landscape conservation areas . According to the protected area statistics of the State Institute for the Environment, Measurements and Nature Conservation Baden-Württemberg (LUBW), 20,088.61 hectares of the district area are under landscape protection, that is 38.69 percent.

The richly structured Keupertäler in the interior of the Schönbuch, the contrast between plateaus and slopes, the great differences in the local climate and the foothills of the forest against the Neckar and Aichtal all determine the diversity of plant and animal life and the wealth of different landscapes.
