The FMA IA-100 is a trainer aircraft produced by the Argentine manufacturer Fábrica Argentina de Aviones .
History and construction
The IA-100 is a two-seat aerobatic training aircraft under development. The aircraft is designed as a low-wing aircraft and is made almost entirely of composite materials. The two pilots sit next to each other in the cockpit. The machine has a non-retractable nose wheel landing gear and is powered by a Lycoming AEIO-360 B1F four-cylinder boxer engine with 133 kW. It is primarily based on the Grob G 120TP , some of which the Fuerza Aérea Argentina uses.
Development work on the IA-100 began in December 2014, and a first prototype (also known as a technology carrier) was presented to the public on September 18, 2015. The first flight took place on August 8, 2016.
The plan is to offer the aircraft both civilly and militarily.
