The FFH area Spitzberg, Pfaffenberg, Kochhartgraben and Neckar is located in the middle of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . It was designated in 2005 by the Tübingen regional council.

location

The approximately 853 hectare (ha) large protected area Spitzberg, Pfaffenberg, Kochhartgraben and Neckar is located in the natural areas Schönbuch and Glemswald and Obere Gäue . The twelve sub-areas are located in the communities of Tübingen , Ammerbuch and Rottenburg am Neckar in the district of Tübingen .

description

The landscape character of the protected area is essentially determined by the structures that give it its name.

The mountain ranges of Spitzberg and Pfaffenberg rise between Tübingen and Oberndorf . There are vineyards and orchards on its slopes, the hilltops are wooded.

The Kochhartgraben is a side valley of the Ammer valley cut deep into the shell limestone.

The Neckar between Rottenburg and Tübingen has largely been straightened and shaped by numerous barrages. Several quarry ponds were created in the Neckaraue through gravel extraction.

A special feature is the occurrence of the hair strand root owl, which is threatened with extinction .
