The FFH area around Trochtelfingen is located in the middle of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . It was designated in 2005 by the Tübingen regional council.

The 698 hectare protected area around Trochtelfingen is located in the Mittlere Kuppenalb natural area in the municipalities of Trochtelfingen , Sonnenbühl and Hohenstein in the Reutlingen district and Burladingen in the Zollernalb district .
description
The nature of the landscape of the protected area corresponds to a typical landscape section of the Kuppenalb, which is characterized by a small-scale alternation of hilltops and dry valleys with poor meadows, juniper heaths and rocky biotopes.
