Großer Stöckberg is a nature reserve designated by the Tübingen Regional Council of December 21, 1994 with the number 4.251.

location

The nature reserve is located in the natural areas of the Mittlere Kuppenalb and Mittlereflächealb . It is a hilltop about 700 meters northwest of the Oberstetten district of the Hohenstein community . The protected area is part of FFH area No. 7621-341 areas around Trochtelfingen .

Protection purpose

According to the regulation, the protective purpose is

  • the preservation of a hilltop, richly structured by hedges and field trees and typical of the landscape of the Middle Kuppenalb, which with its meadows and arable land, the semi-arid lawns in between and an adjacent pond is particularly rich in natural features,
  • the maintenance, care and improvement of hedges, field trees, hay meadows of various types and semi-arid grassland as a habitat for a species-rich world of birds and small animals, in particular butterflies and locust communities, including rare and endangered species,
  • securing the diverse biotope mosaic to preserve the attractive landscape,
  • the preservation, care and improvement of the Großer Stöckberg as a refuge for the flora and fauna in the surrounding agricultural landscape.

Flora and fauna

In the region 190 were about vascular plants demonstrated a floristic specialty is rare in Central Europe Narrow Meadow Rue . Of the 46 species of birds that are endangered species Tree Pipit , Red-backed Shrike , Whitethroat and Willow Tit to name. So far 36 butterfly species have been registered in the area.
