location
The Hohenäcker-Imenberg nature reserve is located north of the Unterhausen district of the Lichtenstein municipality in the Mittlere Kuppenalb natural area on a south-facing slope formed by the Oxford layers of the Upper Jurassic .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is "the preservation, care and improvement of a biotope mosaic made up of large semi-arid grasslands, meadows, hedges, woody areas, fringes and forest areas as the habitat of numerous, above all warmth and drought-loving plant and animal species, including many rare, endangered and protected species [ ...]. The protection purpose is also the preservation and care of the charming landscape of these typical, pronounced, extensively used slope areas in the Echaztal as well as the preservation, care and improvement of the biotope network between the semi-arid grasslands in the nature reserve and the south-western half-arid grasslands in the Reißenbachtal. "
Landscape character
The south and east exposed slope of the Imenberg to the Zellertal is characterized on the lower slope by grasslands and meadows. Further up the slope, the Imenberg is planted with a woodruff beech forest. At the transition to the Ursulahochberg, this is in turn replaced by grassland biotopes.
