Seetalhalde-Galgenberg is a nature reserve designated by the Tübingen Regional Council of December 10, 1993 with the number 4.234.

location

The nature reserve is located in the natural areas of the Mittlere Kuppenalb and Mittlereflächealb . It is located about 500 m northwest of Münsingen and includes u. a. the summit and slope zone of the 771 m high Galgenberg . The semi -arid grassland of the area forms a biotope network with the semidrythic grasslands of the other nature reserves in the north of Münsingen: Höhnriß-Neuben , Kälberberg-Hochberg , Schopflochberg and Eckenlauh-Weißgerberberg . The protected area is part of FFH area no. 7523-311 Münsinger Alb and lies entirely in the Swabian Alb biosphere area .

Protection purpose

According to the regulation, the protection purpose is:

  • the preservation of the diverse and small-structured landscape typical of the Middle Kuppenalb, made up of semi-arid grasslands, juniper heaths, field trees, hedges, the characteristic willow beeches, succession areas as well as arable and meadow areas,
  • the preservation, care and improvement of extensively used, species-rich semi-arid lawns with numerous rare and sometimes highly endangered plant and animal species,
  • the preservation, care and improvement of the hedge landscape as a habitat for a species-rich plant and animal community and as a retreat for numerous species from the surrounding agricultural landscape, as well as individual arable and meadow areas as links between the respective sub-areas or buffer areas to the rest of the intensively used landscape, which itself again contribute to the structural wealth of the area,
  • the maintenance of the extensive biotope network from the Trailfinger Gorge via the Schopflochberg, the Seetalhalde and the Galgenberg to the semi-arid grasslands to the east and west of the Münsingen northern area.

Flora and fauna

In the area you can find the orchid species honey orchis , bee ragwort , white forest bird , brown-red stendrod and broad-leaved stendrod . The occurrence of the protected white brown ella is also remarkable . Three species of grasshopper that are threatened with extinction or endangered in terms of their population have been identified in the area: mountain grasshopper , warty herbivore and pot-bellied grasshopper . The types of butterflies include the aurora butterfly , the imperial mantle , the silver-green blue-green and the green- hackle blue-green . Another faunistic enrichment of the area is the occurrence of the black warbler , red backed killer and bunting bird .
