Hochwiesen-Pfullinger Berg is a nature reserve in the Baden-Württemberg town of Pfullingen in the Reutlingen district.
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of March 16, 1992 and has a size of 68.8 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 4,200. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 163718 and corresponds to the WDPA ID . Part of the area was placed under protection as a mountain meadow natural monument as early as 1979 .
location
The nature reserve is a plateau on the Pfullinger Berg, surrounded by forest, about five kilometers southwest of the city, but about 300 m higher than this. The NSG Hochwiesen-Pfullinger Berg is located in the natural area 094- Mittlere Kuppenalb within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb and is part of the 3,568 hectare FFH area No. 7620-343 Albtrauf between Mössingen and Gönningen and of the 39,597 hectare bird sanctuary No. 7422-441 Middle Swabian Alb . The nature reserve lies entirely in the Swabian Alb biosphere area .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation of a spacious mountain meadow area with adjacent forest as a habitat for numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species, as well as the preservation of a culturally, historically and scenically valuable Alb area landscape, as it is in this intactness as a complex of rough meadows, groups of trees and forest coats is almost nowhere to be found.

The lean high meadows of the Pfullinger Berg are home to numerous species of orchids such as the pink orchis , the orchid orchid and the fly orchid . In the fringes and bushes of the area you can find plant species such as the comb quail wheat , the scratch rose and the crab apple .
