Bauenofen-Häulesrain-Tal is a nature reserve on the territory of the Baden-Württemberg community of Hohenstein.

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of May 15, 1995 and has a size of 40.0 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 4.261. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 162347 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The protected area is around 200 meters northwest of the Hohenstein district of Meidelstetten . It is a dry valley running from southeast to northwest in the middle of a forest and agricultural area. Dolomite peaks , partially covered with juniper heather, rise above the valley, which is used as green or arable land.

The area lies in the natural area 094- Middle Kuppenalb within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb . It borders on the landscape protection area No. 4.15.102 summer sheep pasture under construction, Ofenbuckel and Butzenbuch and is part of the FFH area No. 7621-341 areas around Trochtelfingen .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is according to the Protection Area Ordinance

  • the preservation of a dry valley characteristic of the Middle Kuppenalb including its slope areas with the juniper heaths of various forms, the forest areas and willow beeches, the field trees and the arable and meadow areas predominantly in the valley floor,
  • the preservation of the landscape-defining beauty and uniqueness of the area due to this biotope mosaic,
  • the preservation, care and improvement of the semi-arid grassland with its numerous rare and sometimes highly endangered plant and animal species,
  • the preservation of the sand pits in the area including the vegetation typical of the site as a cultural and historical testimony,
  • the maintenance and improvement of a biotope network of the semi-arid grasslands individually located in the area.

Flora and fauna

In the area there are occurrences of the real moon rue , the heather rose and the narrow-leaved meadow rue .
