Ruchberg is a nature reserve designated by the Tübingen Regional Council of May 11, 1992 with the number 4.201.
location
The nature reserve is located in the Mittlere Kuppenalb natural area . It is located on the plateau of the Swabian Alb about 300 meters west of the Willmandingen district of the Sonnenbühl community . It is part of the FFH area No. 7620-343 Albtrauf between Mössingen and Gönningen and the bird sanctuary No. 7422-441 Middle Swabian Alb .
Protection purpose
According to the ordinance, the main protection purpose is the maintenance, care and further development of a hilltop typical of the Swabian Alb landscape. In particular, the high-quality juniper heath that characterizes the landscape, as well as the surrounding meadows as an ecological compensation space in the middle of the fields, are to be protected in terms of flora and fauna.
Flora and fauna
In the semi-arid grassland of the juniper heather u. a. available: Alpine Rippau , Fragrant Händelwurz and fly orchid . The orchid species, brown-red stendola and broad-leaved stendola, grow in the forest edge areas . The endangered quail finds optimal living conditions in the single-threaded meadows on the Ruchberg .
