The Blasenberg-Ringelesberg nature reserve is a small area with juniper heather in the municipality of Hohenstein on the Swabian Alb .

The area consists of the sub-areas blister mountain and ringeles mountain and has a total area of 6.8 hectares. It belongs to the natural area of the Middle Kuppenalb . With the ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of February 11, 1992, this section of the typical Alb juniper heath was designated as a nature reserve. The 1992 ordinance repealed ordinances dating back to 1955. The entire protected area is part of the FFH area No. 7622-341 Großes Lautertal and district court .

Protection purpose

One of the reasons for protection was to ensure the preservation of this typical form of vegetation in an otherwise relatively intensively used landscape. A refuge should be created for animal and plant species tied to dry and poor locations.

Flora and fauna

The endangered plant species yellow gentian and common cat's paw occur in the area. The rare ground beetle species Cymnidis humeralis and the rare hymenoptera species Allantus didymus were found to be faunistic .
