Eichholz is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg communities of Gomadingen and Hohenstein .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of September 2, 1985 and has a size of 17.0 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 4.124. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 162889 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The protected area is located around 1000 meters northwest of the Hohenstein district of Eglingen. It is a cultural landscape preserved in its original state, which was spared from land consolidations. Of the 168 plant species found, ten are on the “Red List” or are protected. 30 species of large butterflies were found in the area, two of which are on the “Red List”: the dwarf blue (Cupido minimus) as a heat-loving species and the maroon violet butterfly (Fabriciana adippe), a mesophilic species that prefers the forest edge areas.

The area is located in the natural area 094- Middle Kuppenalb within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb and is completely enclosed by the landscape protection area No. 4.15.134 Großes Lautertal , it also belongs to the FFH area No. 7622-341 Großes Lautertal and regional court .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the maintenance and improvement of a habitat that is characterized by the small-scale alternation of hedges, stone bricks, coniferous wood stocks with semi-dry lawns and bushy areas and meadows. The habitat contains many rare plants and animal species, some of which are threatened with extinction, and which are particularly rich in species.
