Wagenhals is a nature reserve in the area of the Baden-Württemberg community Eningen under Achalm .
Characteristics
The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of January 14, 1991 and has a size of 6.1 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 4.177. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 166127 and corresponds to the WDPA ID . The area is registered as a geotope under the name of slopes 700 m NW of Eningen with the source indicated .
Location and description
The protected area is located around 500 meters northwest of Eningen on the east side of the Achalm . On June 17, 1965, a landslide occurred here, in which around 1.3 million m³ of earth and rubble were released over an area of 700 m in length and 350 m in width and slid up to 30 meters down into the valley. The NSG covers the core zone of this slide area.
The area is located in the natural area 101 foreland of the central Swabian Alb within the natural spatial main unit 10 Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land and is part of the FFH area No. 7520-311 Alb foreland near Mössingen and Reutlingen .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation and undisturbed further development of a diverse biotope mosaic created by a landslide, consisting of mountain and semi-arid grassland, succession areas, wetlands and former orchards as a habitat for numerous animal and plant species threatened with extinction.
