The nature reserve lies entirely in the Swabian Alb biosphere area .

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the main protection purpose is the preservation of attractive parts of the landscape on the edge of the Swabian Alb with semi-arid grassland, extensively used fruit tree meadows, hedges, the edge of the forest, wet meadows and ponds as a habitat for many rare and endangered animal and plant species.

The main protection purpose of the landscape protection area is the preservation of the environment that is closely related to the nature reserve parts and important for the animal world (meadows, orchards, pastures, groups of bushes and trees). This is intended to avoid adverse effects on the nature reserves and the existing animal and plant species.
