Steinberg-Dürrenfeld is a nature reserve in the Baden-Württemberg community of Hohenstein on the Swabian Alb in the Reutlingen district.

Characteristics

The area was designated as a nature reserve by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of May 10, 1996 and has a size of 92.2 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 4.267. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 165682 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

location

The nature reserve is a biotope mosaic characteristic of the Kuppige Flachalb with juniper heaths, forests, meadows and arable land as well as hedges and bushes about 1500 meters southwest of the village of Oberstetten in the municipality of Hohenstein and extends over about 2.5 km in a north-westerly direction. The small, 8-hectare conservation area summer sheep grazing on Postal and milk mountain is almost completely surrounded by the field Steinberg Dürrfeld. Directly adjacent are the NSG Halmberg in the north and the NSG Warmberg in the northeast . The NSG Steinberg-Dürrenfeld is located in the natural area 094- Mittlere Kuppenalb within the main natural unit 09- Swabian Alb and is also part of the 698 hectare FFH area No. 7621-341 areas around Trochtelfingen .

Protection purpose

The protection purpose is according to the Protected Area Ordinance

  • the preservation, care and improvement of a biotope mosaic characteristic of the Middle Kuppenalb, made up of juniper heaths of various types, forest, meadow and arable land as well as hedges and field trees;
  • the preservation, maintenance and improvement of this biotope mosaic as a habitat for numerous endangered animal and plant species;
  • the preservation of the landscape-defining beauty and uniqueness of the area due to this biotope mosaic;
  • the maintenance and improvement of a biotope network of the semi-arid grasslands lying individually in the area;
  • the preservation of the sand pits in the area including the vegetation typical of the site as a cultural and historical testimony;
  • the safeguarding and improvement of a large-scale biotope network of juniper heaths in the area of ​​the Hohenstein community.
