Stoker Iceland (of English stoker , heater ' ) is a small island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is the westernmost of the Aitcho Islands in the English Strait and is located 2.1 km west-southwest of Emeline Island . The island is populated by chinstrap penguins .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1971 in recognition of the work of Donald N. Tait (* 1940), stoker on board the survey vessel Nimrod, when a hydrographic unit of the Royal Navy surveyed this and other islands in 1967 .
