The FFH area Strohgäu and lower Enztal in Baden-Württemberg was registered in 2005 by the Stuttgart regional council. With the ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the definition of areas of community importance of October 30, 2018, the protected area was established.

location

The 2457 hectare protected area Strohgäu and lower Enztal lies in the natural area of the Neckar basin . The district of Ludwigsburg with the municipalities of Besigheim, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Ditzingen, Eberdingen, Markgröningen, Oberriexingen, Sachsenheim, Schwieberdingen, Tamm and Vaihingen an der Enz, with 37% of the district of Böblingen with the municipalities of Leonberg, have shares in the area , Rutesheim and Weissach as well as with 21% the Enzkreis with the communities Mönsheim and Wiernsheim. However, the area is not contiguous, but divided into 18 parts.

Contiguous protected areas

Ten landscape protection areas overlap in whole or in part with the FFH area, including the Enztal between the Leinfelder Hof and Bietigheim-Bissingen and Strudelbachtal .
