The landscape protection area (LSG) Enztal between the Leinfelder Hof and Bietigheim-Bissingen , with the full name Enztal between the Leinfelder Hof and Bietigheim-Bissingen as well as Glems and Leudelsbachtal below Markgröningen with adjacent areas (in particular Ottern, Berg and Siegental, Muckenschupf and Rotenackerwald) , has existed since 1991 on over 15 km² in the Ludwigsburg district along the Enz , Glems and Leudelsbach valleys and neighboring areas.

The LSG stretches from the Leinfelder Hof east of Enzweihingen via Ober- and Unterriexingen to around the Rommelmühle in Bissingen . The valleys of the lower reaches of Glems and Leudelsbach are also integrated into the LSG , with the exception of the area of ​​the Leudelsbachtal nature reserve . Other components are the part of the Rotenackers not already protected by the nature reserve and the Muckenschupf . The exception to this are the districts of Unterriexingen and Talhausen , which are completely surrounded by the LSG and belong to Markgröningen .

Protection purpose

The purpose of protection is specified in the ordinance with the safeguarding and preservation of the original character of a diverse cultural landscape in its diversity, individuality and beauty. An efficient natural balance and the habitat of the native flora and fauna should be preserved, as well as the recreational value for the general public. The following are highlighted as particularly worthy of protection:

  • the valley of the Enz,
  • the narrow valleys of the Glemsbach and Leudelsbach,
  • the orchards ,
  • the larger and smaller forest areas,
  • the hillside forests in Glems- and Leudelsbachtal, some of which have the character of a gorge forest but also dry forest character,
  • the large number of wooded ravines and ravines ,
  • the vineyards with their natural stone drying plant,
  • Succession areas,
  • Wetlands ,
  • Meadows and dry grass and
  • some arable land.

The landscape protection area came into force in 1991. In the course of the expansion of the Hammelrain / Oberer Wannenberg nature reserve to what is now the Leudelsbachtal nature reserve, the LSG lost its area accordingly in 2011.
