The Kalkofen nature reserve is located in the municipality of Mönsheim in Baden-Württemberg .

Characteristics

The protected area was created on May 2, 2012 by ordinance of the Karlsruhe Regional Council with the protected area number 2231. This ordinance was published in the Law Gazette for Baden-Württemberg on May 25, 2012 and came into force on June 12, 2012. The NSG's CDDA code is 555552562 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

location

The nature reserve is around one kilometer southeast of Mönsheim. It belongs entirely to FFH area No. 7119-341 Strohgäu and lower Enztal . The protected area is located in the natural area 123- Neckar basin within the natural main unit 12- Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the protection purpose is the preservation, safeguarding and development of a natural area-typical, well-structured landscape section of the Heckengäus with grasslands, meadows, hedges, fields, stone blocks and field trees as well as the deciduous forests with old wood and habitat trees as habitats for the populations that are sometimes specially adapted of endangered animal and plant species.

The protection purpose is also the preservation, safeguarding and development of the habitat types occurring in the area from Annex I of the Habitats Directive, in particular the habitat types near-natural limestone dry lawns (code 6210) and lean flatland hay meadows (code 6510) as well as the conservation and development of the areas in the area Occurring populations of the species according to Annex II of the Habitats Directive.
