The Ersinger Springenhalde is a nature reserve in the Kraichgau in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
The nature reserve is located in the Ersingen district in the municipality of Kämpfelbach in the Enzkreis .
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve by ordinance on June 29, 1982 by the Karlsruhe Regional Council and has an area of almost 40 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 2.057 and is classified in IUCN Category IV, a biotope and species protection area. The CDDA code is 81625 and also corresponds to the WDPA ID .
For ecological and scientific reasons, the main protection purpose is the preservation of the slope, the adjoining meadow valley and parts of the plateau in their landscape-defining characteristics and biological diversity.
geology
The bedrock in this area is shell limestone covered with loess.
history
After the increasing abandonment of extensive use, a varied flora and fauna emerged, which in many places had already progressed well into a forest community through succession. In the meantime, regular maintenance measures take place in order to maintain the character of the dry limestone lawn.
Flora and fauna
In addition to occurrences of common gentian , hellebore and lime aster , the hillside meadows and adjacent natural forest areas are characterized by a variety of native orchids that are rarely found. These include the monkey orchid , which only occurs in a few locations in the whole of Baden-Württemberg , the skinned spur , the great spider ragweed and all of our native forest birds ( Cephalanthera ). The mentioned occurrence of Epipactis purpurata is possibly a name confusion with Epipactis atrorubens , which was detected here earlier. Both species currently only remain in higher elevations and have given up many biotopes. But there are still a good dozen different types of orchids to be found.
Over 70 species of butterflies have been recorded in the species-rich meadows, the more striking include the swallowtail , the great common butterfly , the Russian bear and milkweed hawks .
A mosaic of abandoned vineyards, gardens, orchards, semi-arid lawns and various woods offers Wendehals , the now rare gray shrike , blackcatcher and middle woodpecker a last retreat.
