Protection purpose
The main purpose of protection is maintenance and improvement
- the lower reaches of the Würm with its natural scree bed, its bank areas and the waters flowing towards it,
- the wet meadows and tall herbaceous vegetation of the floodplain and bank area,
- the alder and willow trees that accompany the stream and the deciduous fir and red beech forests on the valley flanks as well
- the dumps and blades
as a habitat for specially adapted animal and plant communities, as climate-relevant elements of the natural area and as typical landscape components of a Black Forest valley. Another goal of the nature reserve is to preserve the cultural and historical facilities such as water pipes, weirs and moats, the bank fortifications from the time of timber rafting and the Liebeneck castle ruins with their historical fortifications.
The protection purpose of the landscape protection area is to secure the ecologically necessary supplementary space for the nature protection area and its animal world, in particular by maintaining the landscape and ecological unity of the Würmtal in its culturally and historically shaped character and use.
