Büchelberg is a designated by ordinance of the Baden Ministry of Culture and Education (as a higher nature conservation authority) from March 29, 1939 Nature Reserve with the number 2019.

location

The nature reserve is located in the Obere Gäue natural area and is around 500 meters northwest of the Münklingen district of Weil der Stadt . The protected area includes the summit and the slopes of 544  m above sea level. NHN high Büchelberg . It is part of the FFH area No. 7218-341 Calwer Heckengäu and is surrounded by three landscape protection areas (starting in the north and continuing clockwise): Tiefenbronn-Biet (No. 2.36.040), Heckengäu-Weil der Stadt (No. 1.15 .027) and Neuhausen-Biet (No. 2.36.041).

Protection purpose

The occurrence of the plant community of the sheep pasture on shallow calcareous soils should be protected. The plant society has its origins in grazing by sheep over centuries. In order to prevent encroachment, the landscape of the Büchelberg is sustainably maintained with the support of the district office.

Flora and fauna

The open parts of the area are interspersed with the plant species narrow-leaved flax , reddish cinquefoil , broad-leaved thyme , panicle grass lily , German fringed gentian , common fringed gentian , mountain aster and common sickle carrot . Out of the species-rich butterfly fauna, endangered species such as the sail butterfly and the kidney spot hairstreak stand out.
