It is enclosed by landscape protection areas, on three sides by the approximately 1,936 hectare area No. 2.36.041- Neuhausen-Biet and in the east by the landscape protection area for the city district of Pforzheim , which bears the number 2.31.001 and is 5,970 hectares in size. There is also an 82.4 hectare forest under the same name , the NSG is located in the southeast corner of the forest.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the block-rich red sandstone slope above the Nagoldtal as well as the linden -rich, warmth-loving rock block forest (species-rich, primeval forest -like "sticky forest "). By means of maintenance measures, the remaining forest vegetation in the parts of the area still used for forestry is to be adapted to the existing primeval forest-like vegetation.
