Ulla Lohmann (born June 6, 1977 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German photojournalist and documentary filmmaker .

Life

At the age of 18 Lohmann reconstructed the skeleton of the amphibian Sclerocephalus haeuseri in Jugend forscht . With the prize money she won at the national victory in 1996, she financed a trip around the world and found her way to journalism . She studied geography and journalism and has degrees in environmental management and photojournalism. Her specialty are volcanoes and indigenous peoples . She worked u. a. with GEO , National Geographic , Stern View, ARD , ZDF , BBC and Red Bull Media House . She speaks German, French, English, Papua New Guinea Pidgin, Solomon Island Pidgin , Vanuatu Bislama .

Lohmann grew up in Enkenbach-Alsenborn (Palatinate) and now lives with her husband and son in Schäftlarn , Bavaria.
