Ammertal from the origin to the Kochmühle and its surroundings is a protected landscape area (protected area number 1.15.059) in the Boeblingen district .

Location and description

The protected area was created by a collective ordinance of the District Office Böblingen of October 10, 1974, which included several protected areas. When this ordinance came into force, the ordinance of the Boeblingen District Office of December 30, 1959 on the protection of parts of the landscape in the district became invalid.

The landscape protection area borders on the southern outskirts of Herrenberg and extends in the Ammertal as far as Validstein . It belongs to the natural area 122- Obere Gäue . The extensive natural monument Ammerquellen in the Upper Valley is located in the western part of the protected landscape area.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the charming meadow landscape of the Ammertal. These characteristic parts of the landscape should be secured for recreational use and the area should be protected from further urban sprawl.
