The Ammerquellen in the Upper Valley are an extensive natural monument and geotope in the area of the city of Herrenberg .
Characteristics
The natural monument was designated by ordinance of May 30, 1994. It is also registered as a geotope under the name Ammer-Ursprung (source pots of the Ammer) SW von Herrenberg .
Location and description
The natural monument is located on the south-western outskirts of Herrenberg. There are four spring pots of the Ammer , which emerge as layer springs over the impermeable Unterseuper . A fifth spring is located 200 meters east of the protected area and is used for drinking water. The catchment area of the karst springs extends into the Haslach , Kuppingen and Affstätt districts , which are located in the Upper Muschelkalk .
