Layer source

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A layer source (also known as a slope source ) is a source between two layers of rock .

A stratified spring is created when groundwater lies in a permeable layer (e.g. sand ) over a relatively impermeable layer (e.g. clay , loam or marl ) and both are sloping on one side. The water then emerges at the lowest point of the water-permeable layer, where it is cut on a slope.
