The International Association of Science History and Theory (English: International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology , abbreviated IUHPST ) is an international non-governmental organization that promotes cooperation between science history and philosophy of science and represents these areas internationally. The IUHPST is a member of the International Science Council (ISC; formerly ICSU) and the International Council on Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH). It was founded in 1956 through the merger of the International Union of History of Science (IUHS) and the International Union of Philosophy of Science (IUPS), then under the name International Union of History and Philosophy of Science (IUHPS). Today it consists of two institutionally independent institutions, the Division of History of Science and Technology (DHST) and the Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science (English: Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology ; DLMPST). The chairmanship of the association is organized on a rotating basis across the divisional boards.

The organization has had its current name with the additional "and Technology" since 2015.

DHST

The Division of History of Science and Technology (DHST) is an international non-governmental organization that represents the field of the history of science and technology internationally. The DHST organizes a world congress every four years and coordinates the work of numerous commissions. The members of the DHST are nations represented by so-called national committees .

Before 2005, the division was called the Division of History of Science ( DHS ).

The current DHST board consists of Michael Osborne (President), Marcos Cueto ( President-Elect ), Angela Creager (First Vice-President), Luiz Carlos Soares (Second Vice-President), Catherine Jami (General Secretary), Milada Sekyrkova (Treasurer), Takehiko Hashimoto ( Deputy Secretary General).

DLMPST

The Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology (DLMPST) is an international non-governmental organization that represents the field of logic and the philosophy of science and technology internationally. The DLMPST organizes a world congress every four years and coordinates the work of several commissions. The members of the DHST are either full members (nations represented by so-called national committees ) or international members (professional associations of sub-areas or regional professional associations).

Until 2015 the DLMPST was called the Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science .

DLMPST congresses

The DLMPST world congress was called the Congress for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science (CLMPS) until 2015 . After the division was renamed, it is now called the Congress for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology (CLMPST).

The current board of directors of DLMPST consists of Nancy Cartwright (President), Kim Sterelny (First Vice-President), Verónica Becher (Second Vice-President), Menachem Magidor (Former President), Benedikt Löwe (Secretary General), Pierre Édouard Bour (Treasurer). The board of directors of DLMPST from 2016 to 2019 consisted of Menachem Magidor (President), Helen Longino (First Vice-President), Amita Chatterjee (Second Vice-President), Elliott Sober (Former President), Benedikt Löwe (Secretary General), Peter Schroeder-Heister (Treasurer).
