International Carl-Bechstein-Piano Competition-Ruhr

The International Carl-Bechstein-Ruhr Piano Competition was held for the first time in 2006 and should take place every four years. It was named after the German piano maker Carl Bechstein .

The winners of the first competition, which was held in March 2006 at various locations in the Ruhr area, were:

Amir Tebenikhin received a special prize for the best interaction with orchestra.

In 2006 the jury consisted of the pianists Andrea Bonatta, İdil Biret , Peter Froundjian, Kirill Gerstein , Andreas Groethuysen , Dang Thai Son , the composer Alexander Tschaikowski and the music journalists Eleonore Büning and Wolfram Goertz . The patronage for 2006 was the pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy . The artistic direction was in the hands of the pianist and conductor Boris Bloch , professor at the Folkwang University .

The 2nd International Carl Bechstein Piano Competition took place in 2010. No information is available about other competitions.
