The International Christian Esperanto Federation (esperanto: Kristana Esperantista Ligo Internacia , KELI for short ) is a worldwide organization of Esperanto -speaking Christians , the majority of whom belong to the Protestant churches .

The association was founded in Antwerp in 1911 . Members of KELI include Lutherans , Anglicans , Reformed , Uniate , Free Churches , Remonstrants , but also Catholics and Orthodox . However, Esperanto-speaking Catholics have their own association with the International Catholic Esperanto Association IKUE.

aims

With Esperanto, KELI would like to bring together Christians from all over the world and from all denominations as a neutral, easy-to-learn second language .

activities

KELI works closely with its Catholic sister organization IKUE . The main activities are:

  • Publication of the magazine "Dia Regno" ("Kingdom of God"). The magazine was founded in 1908 by Paul Hübner (1881–1970), an engineer from Mülheim am Rhein , and is now published 6 times a year.
  • Organization of an annual congress (since 1948; since 1968 every second of these congresses has usually been held together with IKUE as the Ecumenical Esperanto Congress).
  • Organization of ecumenical Esperanto youth camps (with IKUE, including occasionally in Taizé in Burgundy)
  • Publication of religious literature in Esperanto, including the 1,472-page hymn and prayer book "ADORU" 2001 (with IKUE)

KELI in Germany

The German national association of KELI was founded in 1958 under the name "Ecumenical Esperanto League eV". With " ecumenism " was meant above all the inner evangelical ecumenism .

Since June 2006 the regional association has been called "Esperanto League for Christians in Germany eV"; One of the main reasons for the renaming was the wish to be easier to find in the program of the German Evangelical Church Days (market of possibilities).
